Finally!

This weekend I met up with a pal, at a bar after class.  There were a lot of familiar faces, like, other classmates, and a teacher or two.  Now the plan was to get up early and go on a ride and show my pal and some others a really cool ride out to a small town with a saloon, and a nearby swimming hole.  So when the bar closed, I naturally had planned on heading back to my house, to get some rest, and be up early-ish to meet up with the crew, for breakfast and then lead them on the route out to Tortilla Flat.  Weeeeelllll......I had ended up milling around for a few minutes after the bar closed, and then one of the guys that took off to get beer before the stores closed had returned to the bar.  He says, so you gonna come back to the pad and hang out?  And I saw that cold 12 pack strapped to his sissy bar.  I made a passing attempt at shaking the invite: "Well, I kinda wanna go home and get my things ready for the ride tomorrow....like grab my vest and my gun....you know."   Well, then silence dawned as I thought some more about the offer to keep partying, and to just let my usual routines go, and just let out for a weekend of living it up and uncertainty.  Basically, no schedule.  So, I said, "you know what?  Yeah, sure, I'll come over for a bit."
Sometime after 4 everyone crashed out.  I got a sleeping bag and the long couch (generous).  And what was supposed to be a 10am meet up for breakfast, turned into a 12pm final wake up, and a few texts letting the breakfast crew know: "I'm still sleeping."
Guess what else never happened that day?....the ride out to Tortilla Flat.  But that was ok, cause I knew there would be other opportunities.  And today we were going to just all ride around town and check new stuff out.  Basically our friend Roman just moved to Phoenix, and I've lived here a year, and  I still don't have much of a feeling for the city.  I've found one coffee shop I liked.  And that was about it.  However all the roads,  great or small, that lead out of town, were always where I'd rather be.  So today, I rode with the guys, as Walker, a resident Phoenician, showed us some rad spots about the town, that I'd never seen.  We went to, I'm guessing, old town Tempe, and rode over some cool old bridges, hung out in a skate shop, heard a really good street punk band, and well it was fun having a bunch of heads to roll with, and ride fast with, and yeah, I missed these kinda good times.
The only thing I'd regretted was being unable to take photos of our rides, which are always fun to capture.  And the reason I couldn't was cause I didn't have my easy camera access vest that I usually ride with, and my phone was impossibly stuck in my pants pocket when I rode.  So there, no riding photos.  bummer.  Buuuuut!!!...Next weekend we are planning a camping trip, which guess what?! I'll have my camera, and vest, and ooooohhh, camping!!!!  I'm excited.

Ps. I just taught myself to make gravy,  and I'm now putting corn starch in everything.  I put it in my basmati rice tonight.  Oh, and everything is topped with gravy, too.  Yuuummmm!

Oh, let me share some photos from the last two weekends, and some crafty projects I've made and been working on.  Ok, from camping trips, to foot rests, and coin pouches, to long road trips, and all kinda great fun picturesque things that I'm sharing with you from my life.

Enjoy!

Running on an empty stomach,
and then someone thought it'd be a good idea
to add beer and whiskey.

Would have thought I was swimming in a Phoenix sewer,
but they tell me it's a river.  (hold yer nose)
